The Spirit of First Call Computer Solutions

Matt Manley, a Montana cowboy gone big city for most of his professional life couldn't ignore his love for small communities or the people that make them work. After 20 plus years successfully applying technology to the big city and large enterprises, he founded First Call Computer Solutions in 1998 as a way to apply it to small ones.

Conor Smith came aboard and took the lead in 2001. A Montana lad armed with ability, youthful exuberance and a shared vision for adding value to these “small" towns and businesses First Call was a great fit.

Matt and Conor stepped up to create a company to help people proactively make educated decisions and investments in technology to benefit their work, lives and communities.

First Call opened its doors in an old, one-room schoolhouse. Though the company moved away long ago the schoolhouse still serves as a reminder about the spirit of First Call Computer Solutions.

The schoolhouse was one big room with brick walls and wood floors. It was straightforward, functional and solid - a place where anyone would feel comfortable. First Call doesn’t hide behind technology, acronyms, fancy suits or unfamiliar terminology – we too are straightforward. 

Much like a schoolhouse, First Call provides a local resource where “students” have the complexities of a subject broken down, empowering them, through education, to make good technology decisions and investments.

Like other schoolhouses from that era there was one big room. Sitting there it was obvious how dependent we were on each other. The people of First Call work as a team, each member depending on the other to best serve our customers.

As Conor, Matt and leaders (present and future) move the company forward continuous change will be needed. But First Call will never forget the lessons learned at the schoolhouse; doing so would jeopardize our very spirit.
